'அஞ்சாமை அல்லால் துணை வேண்டா...' என்று குறித்த குறட்பாவைத் தொடர்ந்து, அஞ்சாமையே வலிமை என்று 12 குறட்பாக்களும், அஞ்சத் தக்கவை அஞ்சல் தேவை என்று 14 பாக்களும், அஞ்சுவது தவறு என்று 13 பாக்களும் குறிக்கின்றன. முற்றும் ஏற்ற இடம் காணும்வரை, ஈடுபடும் செயலின் தன்மையை, பகைவரைக் குறைத்து மதிப்பிடவோ, அரண் போன்ற பாதுகாப்பான இடத்திலன்றி, சடுதியாகச் செயலில் ஈடுபடவோ கூடாது. தமக்குத் தக்க இடத்திலிருந்து செயல்படலே வலிமை. நீரில் இருக்கும் வரை மட்டுமே முதலை வெல்லும் வலிமை கொண்டது. பொருத்தமான இடத்திலிருந்து, உரிய வழிமுறைகளை ஆராய்ந்து செயல்படும்போது துணிவே துணை. அரணும் படைச் சிறப்பும் குன்றினாலும், மக்கள் தங்கள் உறைவிடமாகக் காக்கும் நிலத்தைப் பிறர் எளிதாக வென்று நிலைக்க இயலாது. Fearlessness and boldness, blended with discretion, are basic strengths in executing actions. 12 couplets in KuraL stress that boldness is the strongest guide in executing actions, while 14 warn that caution is necessary to avoid misdeeds and face vileness, and another 13 state that fear is destructive where courage is called for. 'Kaal aazh kaLaril Nari adum Vael aazh mukaththa kaLiru' kuraL 500 A tusker facing warriors fearlessly, when caught in a quagmire may even be Prey for a fox; beware of a wrong step at a wrong place. The crocodile dominates in deep waters; once out of water it is easy prey to its foes. Choose an appropriate place and do not under-estimate the task on hand. Security to a place of safety like a fort adds strength to will, to act and achieve. Choosing a proper place, staying with courage at a position of vantage and aiming with determination, the weak can also fight to win. Courage is companion in aid to one who acts firm using brain. It is useful to reflect and compare values, ethical codes and systems prevailed in ancient times when, where refined civilizations thrived; to know our bearings and traditions, strengthen moral values and enhance quality of life, reducing stress and strain. We can delve into ThirukkuRaL to find wide and new dimensions which have stood the test of time and prevailed flexible to changes, and take guidance. Though the system of governance and nature of occupations were different those times, basic ingredients of human thought and actions were similar. Success of governance depends on the care and attention given to select suitable people after due tests and verification, finding out their aptitudes. These aspects apply equally to modern day scientific management practices as well. Choose a person eminently suited for the job on hand after fully analyzing capabilities, character and aptitudes. 'கருமமே கண்ணாயினர்' எனும் இயல்புடையவர் தோழமையைத் தவறாக மதிப்பவரின் செல்வமும் பெருமையும் தாமே நீங்கும். தொழில் செய்வோர் மனம் கோணாது, கடமை உணர்ந்து பாடுபட்டால் மட்டுமே நாடு கெடாது செழிக்கும். ஆழ்வோர் அவர் நலனைப் பேணிக் காக்க வேண்டும்.
