Thiruvadipperumai  - greatness of Sacred feet 

 

I   Introduction :

 

All greats like saints , rishis and yogis have written , sung and praised this sacred feet - thiruvadi in their sacred texts

 

Saint poet Thiruvalluvar , in his first Adhigaram - " Kadavul Vazhthu " writes about the sacred feet and its greatness and its capabilities

 

Vallalar  too has written " Thiruvadi Pugazhchchi and Thiruvadi Perumai and refers  the sacred feet at many places in his Arutpa

 

Valluvar says that it is only with the help of sacred feet , we can cross the ocean of births and deaths  - ie attain deathlessness , also this feet bestows longevity to the sadhakas 

 

Such is the greatness of sacred feet .

 

II Thiruvadi Karma :

 

There is a process of meditation we do with the help of this thiruvadi and this is called  " Thiruvadi karma " and it is learnt through the initation and theeksha  from a spiritual  master / guru

 

Pl see what sacred feet does to the practitioner / sadhaka when done correctly :

 

The Might of the sacred feet :

 

1.  Unites 5 senses at a  point in the body (  meaning kaivalyam of indriya ozhukkam - discipline of senses as said by  vallalar )

 

2.  Controls and annihilates mind and its components  ( meaning kaivalyam of karana ozhukkam  - discipline of mind by vallalar )

 

3.  Arrests all movements of the body, mind and breath ( vallalar says as - Aadatheer , catrum Asaiyatheer - dont move  ) as  SOUL is static and immobile - where as Jeevan is always mobile 

To convert Jeevan to Atman - SOUL , one has to be static 

So, sacred feet  helps in conversion of Jeevan to Atman/ Soul 

 

4.  Empowers  Sadhaka  to view  36 principles  by his naked eyes ( vallalar says - Aararu kaatiya APJ )

 

5. Empowers  Sadhaka to cross 36 principles ( vallalar - Aararu kadatbiya APJ )

 

6.  Ensures longevity of life to sadhaka ( valluvar - nilamisai needu vazhvaar )

 

7.  Leads sadhaks jeevan to Atman level first ( mounam - SOUL ) and then finally takes him to Porchabai - Chitchabhai and Gnanachabai ( Golden worlds of consciousness ) and gives him eternity and immortality - great  deathless life  ( vallalar - Maranimilla Peruvazhvu )

Soul - Atman is not Chitchabai , whose realms are at much higher than soul 

 

8.  Enables sadhaka to be in the state of " Chumma Irukkum sugam  - Be as it is "

 

9.  Enables sadhaka as : " though amidst the world - not of the world - just like a water drop on lotus leaf . What a great gift ??

 

10.  Enables sadhaka to be " Awakened " - " Present " state of consciousness  always

 

11.   By being in the soul state,  thiruvadi enables sadhaka to become  " Sthitha pragnya "  - balanced person 

 

Just  as Lord Ram cant enter into Lanka without the help of Hanuman, so is that  Jeevan cant enter into the realms of SOUL without the help of Thiruvadi

 

Hence, religion Vaisnhnavam is right in terming Hanuman as  " Ciriya Thiruvadi  - Little Sacred feet "

 

That s why  Ramayana , depicts  that Lord Ram enters Lanka  sitting on Hanumans shoulders
