Ayudha Pooja – In its real sense
( meaning by way of Suddha sanmargam )
Ayudha pooja derives its roots from the letter Ayudha which is represented by three points/holes . In tamil , this is the last letter but one of the most important letters.
It signifies that these three holes possess divine , sacred weapons in them
Out of three holes, two holes below represent two eyes and third point represents the " third eye "
By sadhanas and penance ( thiruvadi karma ) , we have to unleash the power of the weapons from these eyes and destroy the veils covering the Atman - light of soul
Veils represent - Maya - illusion, karma and Ego - 3 malams
This is the real essence of Ayudha Pooja
To substantiate this, in its physical and external manifestation of this truth, recollect in Mahabharatha, Vijayan alias Arjun , taking all his weapons from the hole of a tree after his 12 years of exile in forest and 1 year of life incognito.
The hole of tree is the "third eye" here
That is why tenth day is called “ Vijaya dasami “ named after Vijayan
With these weapons , he killed 100 brothers who are the personification of all 3 malams not anything else
The day we worship the mystic holes possessing sacred weapons is and was termed as AYUDHA POOJA
But what we are doing.
We assemble all inanimate objects thru which we make our living and do pooja as a matter of expression of gratitude which has no relevance to the real pooja.
What a world of difference ????
This distorted version of meaning is the outcome of the those people whose consciousness level could not grasp the real meaning of Ayudham. Hence this sorry state of affairs
