This is the first time i am writing to this group and all the while i have been silently reading and learning from you all. Before i proceed i want to thank you all for the very nice interactions. I want to share few thoughts on non-vegetarian food and about the egg:
There is a highly evolved spiritual school of thought which states:
Killing animals for eating is not a moral issue and therefore it is morally not wrong in killing animals. For what you think you are killing (jivatman) cannot be killed (since atman is only one and it cannot be created or killed). That remains forever. What you think you are killing (the body of an animal) would die even if you don't kill it. Then is it right to kill animals and eat it? Obviously not. The reasons for not killing are as follows:
1. Every food is recommended or prohibited based on its guna and its effect on us (both and not just one). As we all know each food can be classified as Satvic, Rajasic and Tamasic. So in our scriptures eating non-veg is not prohibited for Kshatriyas and Vaisyas because they need qualities that are rajasic. Let me explain this with an example.
2. Milk is generally accepted as good for all of us. We even pray cows as Komaatha because of milk and other good products that is offered. Cow's ghee is offered in yagas. Lord krishna and Hanuman are always offered butter (vennai). Then too many of the saints including vallalar has prohibited us from drinking milk. Why?
If you want saatvic qualities, meditating and interested in increasing your spiritual power then we need increase the internal heat in the body... ஊனை உருக்கி, உள்ளொளி பெருக்கி. one of the most important physical attribute of a spiritually evolved person is how thin he is. உடம்பு வத்த வேண்டும். I hope you have seen Kanchi periyavar pictures who was so frail and yet a very evolved and revered saint.
Milk's nature is Kapha / Kabham which reduces the heat in the body and hence many saints including vallalar has prohibited us from drinking milk. But if you are in normal worldly life or a kid milk is very much essential. The moral is one person's medicine is other person's poison. Same way egg though it can add lot of protein and fat to our body its essential quality if tamasic. After eating egg for breakfast we would surely feel very sleepy and lethargic.
So in my opinion instead of attributing a moralistic approach, we need to look at it scientifically (not western science which is very gross but as per our சித்த விஞ்ஞானம். The other aspect which we need to be very clear about is mercy or compassion aspect. When we kill an animal for our hunger or to satisfy our taste buds it is cruel. Mercy, compassion and cruelty are lower emotions which are seated in our nabhi chakra (solar plexus). This energy creates congestion in that chakra.
When kundalini has to rise to the head then it needs a clear path. Sexual thinking / lust is in the swadisthana chakra, lower emotions are in the solar plexus both prevent the energy to rise about. Most of us live our lives in the lower 3 chakras and the awareness does not reach beyond it. That is why most of the sage recommend 2 things:
1. Have compassion and mercy and forgiveness which is an higher emotion seated in the heart. When this feeling manifests then lower emotions are cleaned off and there is no congestion.
2. Sing loudly.... so that the emotions are vented out. காதலாகி கசிந்து கண்ணீர் மல்கி ஓதுவார்.... you have sing loudly or recite slokas loudly. Remember any one cannot start with manthra japas. First it has to be disciplines (Yama and niyama) and then asanas, pranayama to clean the congestions. In bakthi marga it is satsang, bajans to clean the emotions.
So in summary we should interpret everything based on siddha science (which is to know the nature of things and to understand how it affects us). the easier option is to go by what sages and saints have told us, since they knew it all. If eating non-veg is morally wrong then how do we explain a Kannappa nayanar or Gugan (Ramayana) attaining moksha?
I think it has become a long mail, apologies for the same. These are my thoughts. I am enjoying this group keep it going.

Dear Yogeshwar,
We cannot listent to, all the time, what science says. It is a matter
of ones mature mind. If you can see that the egg has life inside it,
avoid it and same is for the milk. Vallalar saw life forms in
everything and eventually He stopped eating rice also after sometime I
believe. Listen to your lovely Heart.
Thanks,
Ashoken
