அன்புள்ள நண்பர்களே

I never understood the importance of that invitation from a  from Sanmarga friend.  Without knowing the clear agenda, I agreed. So I landed in meeting this Sammarga friend in Yelahanka , north bangalore.

Being Weekend morning, bangalore was crazy with mysterious traffic jams in arterial roads. I called him several times to take his advice for directions. I was more than an hour late, though i was driving for the past 2 hours and clocked 20 KM!

While I got down from vehicle with guilty consciousness , he invited me with broad smile without any discomfort. Then we went to a nondescript neighborhood shop selling steaming idly and rice. We picked up 17 meal packets. We started our round to distribute the food to needy hungry.

It rained heavily previous night and it was still dizzling. The Sanmarga friend was little worried, as he was not sure whether we would be able to distribute the food packets. We went to his first spot where he distributes food. Alas, the regular recipients were missing. The road was muddy, probably these folks might have taken shelter elsewhere.

Then we proceeded to the next spot. There we saw elderly sick lady. He happily accepted the food packet when foodbwas offered to her. Our next recipient was a mentally retratered lady. She gracefully accepted and showered blessings in fluent Kannada towards him. Our Sanmarga friend, just ignored and started walking.

We distributed 10+ packets this way. While distributing, i became humble and my ego started busting into thousands of pieces. Then we reached Yeahwantpur railway station. We saw a old man sitting in bus stop. He is sick and he can not move. We offered him the packet. ( photo attached )

This is daily routine for our Sanmarga friend for the past 3 months. In spite of his worldly work load ( software engineer ), he is just doing this as a daily routine. Food packets are distributed only to the NEEDY. This is NOT any ordinary Anna-dhanam. This is eesered purely out of dayavu and without anything in return

With this simple act, this friend offered a practical lesson that more powerful than any theoretical lecturers. Now I started probing why Vallalar insisted so  much on Jeevan karnuviyam.

The key take away is - be practical and treat every being as brothers.

PS - friend is Karthikeyan J.

Homeless man sleeping after meal.
