[vallalargroups:1877] Re: Vallalar

First given by Sage Ramalingar's chief disciple Thozuvoor Velayuthanaar while printing Songs of Holy Grace.   Became so popular in Thamizh that Vallalar means and refers only to Sage Ramalingar.   Earlier use of the term is found in Thevaram to refer to God.

Vanakkam. A simple question is nudging my mind and I am sorry if this is too silly to be asked.

Can you please tell how our Ramalingam Swamigal got the name Vallalar? Who gave it and when? Or is this name "swayambu" - without any source and self-born?

Warm regards,
Udayashankar.
