[vallalargroups:4106] Al Vilangu--Mahadevamalai

Dear seekers of Truth,

Dr Arumugam of Malaysia has given us an opportunity to open ourselves with the meaning in the following song. It is a small commentary attempted.

Dear Friends,
 Please explain this poem

In order to transform the basest animal instincts and elevate the human beings, the highest teacher of wisdom has incarnated and gracing in the minds of the devotees. But I was under the mistaken impression that the woman is the cause for transforming me as an animal and therefore, I have successfully resisted her and I have broken that iron shackle. But even after I have extricated myself from the clutches of the woman physically, still I am tormented mentally by the passion for not one woman but many a women. The woman is not the actual cause but I am actually the cause for my deterioration. I have created the snare of the desire on my own and captivated myself with it. I am reeling under this illusion. Even the ordinary animal which has got only five senses would not stoop to such a level whereas I bestowed with sixth sense am behaving below the animal. Vallalar is of the opinion that when the animal physically abstains from something it would not cherish the object of its abstention mentally.

I am indulging in such basest animal instincts even when the Lord has incarnated in my devoted mind as my Teacher. I am more below the dogs which are after flesh with watering tongues. I have renounced flesh but I have not renounced the desire for flesh. I am a habitual offender and every time I come before you my Lord with my sins, every time you forgive me. Therefore, your absolving me of my sins is not new to you and to me. Still I have also not become new as I am again standing before you declaring my sins.

Buddha has said that the desire is the cause of misery. Vallalar says that we are the desire.

Jesus has said that an act is committed in the mind even if it is not done physically. Vallalar says that we are not different from our mind.

Vallalar goes one step further than those teachers and hold that he is not talking about the ordinary but about the devotees who are conscious about their duties, conscious about the Shiva is in their minds to make them good.

Al vilangu in the first line deals with the effort of the lord to convert me from an animal into an non animal into a human being.

Al vilangu in the fifth line deals with the basest instinct to keep me as an animal forever and ever.

Let us see as to how vallalar has deployed the same terms in diametrically opposite sense.

Let us request more such opportunities from Dr Arumugam.

With regards
