Iam glad to see that our group members are discussing there own experiences. I also came to spirituality 10 years back and visited so many places and gurus. Finally i came to vallalar. I heard the speeches of kuppusamy ayya, Thambaiah ayya etc that increased my knowledge about vallalar songs and his teachings, as i dono to read tamil(Settled in Karnataka). But now to study vallalar books i learnt tamil.
According to my knowledge to reach spiritual heights we may meet so many persons and gain some knowledge, but in vallal peruman's case he learnt directly from arutperumjyothi andavar itself. In some places he mentions thiruGnanasambandhar as guru. I also studied Gnanasambandhar's history in which it depicts that he also attained maranam illa peru Vazhvu. So you have mentioned that vallalar had some guru who attained samadhi, but to my knowledge he cannot be vallal peruman's guru as attaining samadhi is lower state than what vallal peruman has reached. My belief is that a person can reach the spiritual state upto what his guru has achieved. so vallal peruman has crossed all the states of his predecessors (Which includes those who attained samadhi) as his guru is arutperumjyothi andavar itself. He says this in one of his poems as mentioned below.
"Muktharum siddharum devarum yaavarum petrida perinbam iyal ennakku alittha arutperumjyothi"
Thanks and Regards,
P.K.Magendran
