இயந்திரமயமான உலகில் மனிதாபிமானம், இரக்கம் என்பதெல்லாம் மிகவும் அரிதாகிவிட்டது. ஆனால், சென்னையை அடுத்த வண்டலூரில் வசிக்கும் ஒரு பெண்மணி, வாயில்லா ஜீவன்களுக்கு உணவளித்து, பராமரித்து வருகிறார். அவர் பெயர் சாந்தா சிவராமன். வயது 56. நவரத்ன வியாபாரம் செய்து வந்த கணவர் சமீபத்தில் இறந்துவிட்டார். குழந்தைகள் இல்லை. தற்போது 11 நாய்களும், 35 பூனைகளும் இவரின் பராமரிப்பில் உள்ளன.

இது குறித்து சாந்தா சிவராமன் கூறி யதாவது:எனது 17 வயதில் இருந்தே வாயில்லா ஜீவன்களுக்கு உதவ வேண் டும். அவை துன்பப்படும் போது மனது பதைபதைக்கும். அவற்றை வீட்டிற்கு எடுத்துவந்து, உணவளிப்பதை வழக்கமாக கொண்டேன். திருமணத்திற்கு பின்னும் எனது இந்த பழக்கம் தொடர்ந்தது. வீதிகளில் கேட்பாரன்றி கிடக்கும் நாய், பூனை உள்ளிட்டவைகளை எடுத்து வந்து, பராமரிக்க துவங்கினேன்.வீட்டு விலங்குகளை பராமரிக்க முடியாதவர்களும் அவற்றை என்னிடம் கொண்டு வந்து விடுவர். குட்டியில் இருந்தே பழகுவதால் அவை என் மீது மிகவும் பிரியமாக இருக்கும். ஒரு கட்டத்தில் எங்கள் வீடு, ஆதரவற்ற செல்லப் பிராணிகளின் சரணாலயமாகவே மாறிவிட்டது. பிறக்கும் குட்டிகளுக்கு நட்சத்திரம் பார்த்து பெயர் வைப்பேன். கருவுற்ற நாய், பூனைகளுக்கு சீமந்தம் நடத்துவேன்.

எங்கள் குழந்தைகளைப் போலவே அவற்றை வளர்த்து வருகிறேன். ஆனால், எனது கணவர் இறந்த பின், இந்த பிராணிகளை பராமரிப்பது கஷ்டமாகிவிட்டது. இவற்றை பராமரிக்க எனது தங்கை தான் அவ்வப்போது பணம் தருகிறாள். எனது சாப்பாட்டிற்கே சிரமமாகிவிட்ட நிலையில், என்னை நம்பியுள்ள இந்த வாயில்லா ஜீவன்களை பற்றித் தான் கவலையாக உள்ளது. வருமானம் எதுவும் இல்லாமல் போய்விட்டதால், அரசின் முதியோர் உதவித் தொகை பெற முயற்சி செய்து வருகிறேன். ஆனால், பெற முடியவில்லை. அலைக்கழிப்பு தான் மிச்சம்.

வீட்டில் இத்தனை உயிர்களை விட்டுவிட்டு, வெளியில் செல்ல முடியவில்லை. இருப்பினும், வறுமையிலும் இந்த வாயில்லா ஜீவன்களை வாடாமல் வைத்துள்ளேன். அவைகளுக்கு தேவையான பிஸ்கட், பால் போன்றவைகளை யாராவது கொடுத்தால் அவர்களுக்கு நன்றியுள்ளவளாக இருப்பேன், என்றார். ஒரு காலத்தில், நல்ல வருமானத்துடன் இருந்த சாந்தா சிவராமன், தற்போது ஒருவேளை சோற்றுக்கே தடுமாறுகிறார். மூட்டை மூட்டையாக அரிசி வாங்கி வைத்து பழக்கப்பட்ட இவர், தற்போது இலவச அரிசிக்காக ரேஷன் கடையில் போய் நிற்க வேண்டியுள்ளது."நான் இறந்த பின் இந்த குழந்தைகள் (நாய், பூனை உள்ளிட்டவைகளை அவர் குழந்தைகள் என்றே அழைக்கிறார்) என்ன செய்யப் போகிறார்களோ' என்று அவர் கேட்கும் போது, ஒரு தாயின் பாசம் தெரிகிறது. அரசு அதிகாரிகள் அவருக்கு முதியோர் உதவித் தொகை கிடைக்கச் செய்தால், அது ஓரளவிற்கு உதவும்.

தன்னார்வ தொண்டு நிறுவனங்களும் உதவ முன் வரலாம். அவரின் தொடர்பு எண்: 97911 73134. கடந்த 35 ஆண்டுகளாக வாயில்லா ஜீவன்களோடு வாழ்ந்து வரும் இவர், கடைசி காலத்தில் வறுமையில் சிக்கியுள்ளது பெரும் சோகமே.

*பராமரித்து வரும் நாய், பூனைகளுக்கு செல்லக்குட்டி, குட்டிமா, கண்ணா என விதவிதமாக பெயர் சூட்டி, அழைக்கிறார் சாந்தா சிவராமன்.
*வீட்டிற்கு வருபவர்களை அவர் வரவேற்கும் முன்னரே, அங்குள்ள நாய்கள் "வாங்க வாங்க' என்பது போல இரண்டு முன்னங்கால்களையும் தூக்கி வரவேற்கின்றன.
*சாப்பாடு தயார் என்றவுடன் ஒரு சிறிய தட்டைக் கொண்டு சுவரில் தட்டவும், எங்கெங்கோ இருந்த பிராணிகள் அடுத்த வினாடி அங்கு ஆஜர் ஆகிவிடுகின்றன.
