In the great sermon on 22.10.1873, Saint Vallalar has proclaimed to the world through his followers present there that,
"The experience of the soul, the truth
of nature, is actually the life of excellence."
Vallalar has actually written this song as a sequel to the journey of consciousness explained in detail in the song of "Aani Ponnambalam" which is the experience of soul in its ascension from the physical to the spiritual plane. The saint divides existence into two states; one is the manifest; the other is the unmanifest. The physical world we see is like the peacock dancing with its feathers spread. The spiritual world is like the sound of cuckoo. Therefore, that which is seen as peacock in dance is heard as cuckoo in sound.
The saint has scanned the entire span of existence in his contemplative meditation and declares that existence comprises of 10 states as detailed below in Song No.17 of Thiruvadi Perumai; in other words, there are eight steps in between god and manifestation:
Manifestation
Form
Colour
Light
Nature
Atom
Part
Nucleus
Energy
God of energy
The saint has made it explicit in Arut Perunjothi Attakam that he has traversed consciously far beyond into the realm of unknown and therefore, is conversant with various aspects of creation in nature; that the world in manifestation is like the feathers of peacock spread during its dance. But the dance of manifestation emerges only from energy whose lord is god. While in manifestation the world appears to be varied, at the state of energy, it remains in undifferentiated oneness. Therefore, when one casts aside the quantum jump on the physical plane, the journey to the sound of oneness begins.
When the energy sprouts from god, it does not wear any difference in any manner. The saint asserts that when there is no division of caste and religion at the level of energy ie at the spiritual level, how any difference could manifest in the physical plane alone? Vallalar proclaims that if we leave the differences of caste and religion which were created only by the human mind at its height of ignorance, then, we can see Arut Perunjothi, the glory of the glowing grace.
This aspect has been explained by the saint in Thanithiru Alangal that the divine consciousness dances only in the mind of persons who have cast aside even an iota of difference and consider themselves to be in union with all souls and enjoy such existence as their cherished aspiration.
The spontaneous teaching of the saint powerfully unleashed at the opening of the great sermon in 1873 just three months prior to attaining the eternal body, reverberates still in our mind:
"You all inquire into the state of our existence and the state of god who governs us. Such inquiry is not concerned with any mundane affairs but concerned with the state of spirituality. The veils which cover the soul should be removed by a thoughtful meditation on god".
It is evident from the above that the Truth of Nature has been suppressed by the ignorance of the human mind which is unconsciously exalting falsity as its liberator. Therefore, only if we pierce the veils of falsity created by the human mind at all levels of human understanding by the medicine of wisdom prescribed by the saint, we can then realise the truth of god in the hall of cosmic dance.
Let us not treat peacock and cuckoo as two different birds as such but as two wings of the same bird which when freed from the cage of falsity and ignorance of the human mind, flies high in the altitude of understanding of spiritual unity which is the truth of our existence.
